Can't load the application or bring up the catalog

I can't load the application or bring up the catelog.  Removing the lock file didn't help.  All other applications are fine, including Chrome.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Which operating system do you use?

Which version of Lightroom?

Please provide also a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. 

There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post. 

 

What you're trying to do?

Do you get error message(s)? If yes please post the error message word-by-word.

Did this work in the past? If yes, what has been chabged on your system before the error occur?

Does LrC try to start? Do you see the splash screen at all? If so, does it state Reading Preferences? then fails?

The splash screen starts, but nothing more happens. I've tried this
several times today. The first few times I saw a dialog box that said the
catalog was already in use, which was not correct. I learned about
deleting the lock file from other sources on the web. Now all I get is the
splash screen, and nothing else happens.
