You need to update first. Your LR version is still the old one.

my version of lightroom does not support the raw for sony a6500.

The Sony A6500 was first supported in LR CC 2015.8, so most likely you don't have the latest version of LR installed. Do Help > System Info to find the exact version -- if it is earlier than 2015.8, you need to update to the latest version (2015.12): Keeping Lightroom Up-to-Date .  If the update doesn't work, you can manually download and install 2015.12 from here: Download Photoshop Lightroom

As John already mentioned, when it does not detect the update, download the update manually from the link John posted.

Based on what you have posted, you now have Lightroom 6 .0 installed.  By reinstalling Lightroom you have installed Lightroom 6.0. If you cannot install the updates from Lightroom then you will have to download the .12 update from the link that was provided previously in this thread and install it manually.

Just purchased Lightroom 6 stand alone and downloaded latest updates because I could not see the dehaze option.

Now, after reading these posts I see that Adobe  does not offer the same features.   This is very frustrating.   Everything I saw online implied 6 and CC were the same.  Is there a list of those features not offered in the stand alone version?   A major reason for purchasing Lightroom was all the online tutorials but now I am afraid to trust the training.    Very dissatisfied new customer!

Well I don't know what you were looking at but LR6 and LR CC are not the same in terms of features available.

if you type in "Difference between Lightroom 6 and Lightroom CC" Into your favorite search engine, you get lots of good information. For example: Compare Lightroom CC vs. versions 5 & 6 | Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC history

Since that article was published, additional differences should be added to the list.
