Can't upgrade catalog 14.5.1 => 15.0/15.0.1

I tried optimizing and checking for integrity serveral times. I can't get my catalog to upgrade. There's only this message:

Lightroom encountered problems when trying to update the format of the catalog fileand cannot use this catalog in this version of Lightroom.

It sends me to a tech note that has nothing to do with my problem as far as I can tell. My OSX is up to date an on v26

A possible solution is to create a brand new empty catalog in LrC 14.5.1, then use the menu command File->Import from Another Catalog and select your existing LrC 14.5.1 catalog file. This will create an identical* catalog file, hopefully without the problems that is causing the failure to upgrade. Try upgrading this newly created catalog to LrC 15.

* — identical except your publish services will not appear in the new catalog, you will have to re-create them.
