Cannot get lightroom classic on new computer to recognize external hard drive

My super duper Dell crashed but I had everything backed up on external hard drives.  Actually, I was using an external hard drive to store and work with all of my RAW files upon import.  Now with a different  compter I cannot get Lightroom to recognize that external hard drive.  Any suggestions?

On Windows, you may be able to simply change the drive letter back to whatever it was on the old computer.
