I have iMac 12.0.2 and cannot import from piciture folders items I scanned into picutres with epson 850 scanner. Also cannot import directly into LR classic directly from compact flash card reader as done a few months ago. I was able to do both of these tasks previously. Help!

I've moved this from the Using the Community forum (which is the forum for issues using the forums) to the LRC forum so that proper help can be offered.

What version NUMBER of Lightroom Classic?
What happens (describe in detail) when you cannot import? If there is an error message, please quote the exact unedited word-for-word verbatim error message, leaving nothing out.

Repeating
"What happens (describe in detail) when you cannot import?"
How far does the process get? Is that the actual exact name of the file this long string beginning with "Alicia"? If not, what is a typical file name in this import?

So is
AliciaBdaywirthGMSoongbrothernephew?Family:?.20160816_11574300.tif
the exact actual name of the file you are trying to import? If not, what is a typical file name in this import?

Lightroom Classic does not like file names that have a dot in the file name before the dot that signifies the file extension (.tif) so I think you have to eliminate the extra dot.
So that's one problem. Lightroom Classic also does not like question marks and colons in the file name (I think) so maybe you could replace those as well.

Is the file name plus the drive and full path to the import location, to long for the Operating System limit?
I seem to recall that this can be an issue.

This is a different error.
The Destination folder is not writable ... you need to make sure the permissions on this EXACT folder are set to WRITE permission.

LrC doesn't like colons in the fielname. Change them to an underscore or dash character and they should import. I'd also eliminate the question mark characters, which will prevent the files from being used on a Windows system. It's bad practice–Don't use these characters in filenames!

As dj_paige mentions you need to change the permssions for the Import Destination folder to full Read & Write as outlined at the below article.

Let's make sure you are looking at the permissions for the correct folder.
Show us a screen capture of the Import dialog box so we can see what the Destination folder is (full path name), and show us a screen capture of the permissions on this folder and the full path name of the folder.

Try adding the files on the CF card to the destination folder manually using Finder. Then in the Import module select that folder and at the top select Add. Does that work?

"Sorry for delayed reply. I’ve been very busy. This is a screen shot after trying to import. What do you mean by show screen capture of permissions on this folder??"
Capture some screenshots and use the Insert Photos icon in the top bar of the reply window. We need to see both the folder permissions and the Import screen in LrC.
