I would like to migrate my complete Catalog without Smart Preview to an external disk.
So when I am on the road without my external disk my photos are stiil visible.
How can I solve this issue?

Laptop? Are the originals on some other external drive that will not be present when you are on the road?
Include the Previews AND Smart Previews folders on the external drive you will have with you. The whole purpose of Smart Previews is to allow you to see and work on the images when the originals are not connected.

All originals are on an external. But the smart previews are ± 75gb. and 1:1 previews ±50gb.
I want to have more space left on my laptop.

Just get a larger external drive and copy all those preview and smart previews to that, keeping the folder structure of the Lightroom Classic folder.

I have a 4TB sexternal ssd. Large enough I thought.
But when I move my Catalog to an external I don't have Smart Previews with me when I am on the road.

In addition to copying the catalog to an external drive, in the same folder, you need to copy the "Previews" and "Smart Previews" folders. Then you can work without the original files.

I'm really not understanding what you want. When you say "migrate my complete catalog", do you mean the photos or the catalog file, or both, or something else?

I want my Catalog with Previews on an external. All my photo's are on the erternal (and in the cloud) but I only want the Smart previews on my harddrive to have them with me when I am on the road. Thats all.

I don;t think you can split up the folders that way. LrC will look in the same folder where the Previews folder is located for the Smart Previews. That's why it puts them all together during the installation or creation of smart previews.

Right. I think I will reduce the preview cache in preferences then.

Perhaps you could discuss the actual problem you are having, rather than your proposed solution. It seems that the actual problem is that you don't have much room left on your internal HD, and this is a problem when you travel. Is that correct?

Reduced cache already big improvement. Thanks

One question that should be considered/reconsider. Why are you using SmartPreviews? Yes their are Pro and CON as to that.
