Creating a new catalog - LR copies editions from past catalogues

Hi all,

I'm trying to create a new and smaller catalogue from .dng which are already in another catalogue. So, when I import these selected .dng to the new catalogue, LR imports them with the edition I made, the stars I gave each of them... in the other catalogue. I don't know why, because I import the .dng from the folder in my hard disk (which are not altered, as far as I understand LR), I don't import metadata...
If anyone has any guess/knowledge about why this happens and how it can just import the .dng without any modification, I will be grateful. Thanks!
PS: I'm working on LrC 10.0 version

Sounds like you have 'Automatically write changes to XMP' enabled in your catalog settings. That writes the edits to a 'sidecar' file for raw images, but for DNG the edits are written into the metadata of the DNG itself. If you then import this DNG in another application that supports this, the edits are read and automatically applied. The same happens when you use 'Export as DNG'.
