Date Time Digitized Showing Incorrect Dates on GoPro Images

New Here ,
Sep 11, 2024 Sep 11, 2024

When I import images from my GoPro camera (for diving), the 'Date Time Digitized' is showing outdated dates, while the 'Date Time Original' and 'Date Time' are correct. Why is this happening?

The metadata from the GoPro contains the following information:

"FileModifyDate": "2024:09:10 21:37:21+02:00",
"FileAccessDate": "2024:09:10 23:15:06+02:00",
"FileCreateDate": "2024:09:10 23:15:05+02:00",

"ModifyDate": "2024:09:10 21:37:20",

"DateTimeOriginal": "2024:09:10 21:37:20",
"CreateDate": "2024:09:10 21:37:20",

Upon importing into Lightroom, I received the following dates:
Date Time Original 2024-09-10 21:37:20

Date Time Digitized 2016-03-25 15:55:23 <<<<---- ????

Date Time 2024-09-11 15:06:08

Hey tomas_4232, Welcome to the Lightroom Community.

We're sorry for the trouble. I'll need more details to help you. Does your camera pair with the app?

What version of Lightroom and operating system are you working on?

What type of file are you importing to Lightroom? Is it JPEG or RAW or any other kind?

Could you let me know if you changed the location of the folder saved?

Could you please share the screenshots of the settings or the workflow you followed?

Try this and let us know how it goes.

Choose Metadata > Edit Capture Time. Click the arrow in the Date Time field in the Metadata panel with EXIF information displayed.

You can check this Community discussion that our Community Experts have shared solutions that may help you: https://adobe.ly/3XlOcLk

Thanks,

Shivani

Tomas_Hermansson6710_0-1726522083025.png

the 2016-date isnt in the file from my GoPro... so it has to be added by LR... somehow... any idea on why? I importen them via SD-cardreader from the SD-card from my GoPro.

Please upload a couple problem images to Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar and post the sharing link here. I'll put them under the microscope to determine if this is a problem with the image metadata or a bug in LR (in which case we can file a bug report).

I have found the reason... when shiring raw, the GoPro hero 8 black storea the images in two file formats, jpg and gpd. The Date Time Digitized of the GDP-file that has the 2026-date. The JPG doesn't.

so, I have created an support ticket at GoPro but they act a bit strange, questions me why I shot raw... instead of trying to resolve the issue... it's with second line support at the moment... so fingers crossed...
