Delay in deleting images

Community Beginner ,

I use Command Option Shift Backspace a lot to delete photos in the library on my initial first pass, while also starring photos 1 or 2 stars to begin with.

While doing this (on a new M3 Macbook Pro -  so it's not the computer that's causing this delay), there is a significant delay while Lightroom appears to need to 'catch up' with what I've asked it to do.

Has anyone else experienced this?

With or without the delay, it's much faster to mark them as 'Rejected' by hitting the 'X' key. Then at the end, select all rejected photos and delete them all at once.

I don't know the answer why this is so slow either, so that is why I chose to give you a practical workaround instead.
