Develop History not visible, but still there

Community Beginner ,
Feb 22, 2025 Feb 22, 2025

Recently 95% of my develop history is no longer visible.  I can still "Reset" to original, and get it back with Control Z, but i cannot see the steps that i did.  Some recent images show history, but most of my older ones do not show history.  The sidecars are beside all images in my hard drive.  I updated to Version 14.2 but that did not help.  Also tried the "Reset all preferences and Relaunch" and this did not help either.

Any suggestions?

Hey, @Clayton Reitzel. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out.

Before we proceed further, please go to Edit > Catalog Settings > Change backup frequency to 'When Lightroom exits next' and take a backup for your Lightroom Catalog.

You can try opening the latest catalog backup and check if the history states seem like they were expected.

Also, does this happen with a specific set or collection of images? Have you recently imported these images that have the issue?

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

@Sameer K Thanks Sameer.  there is NO history execpt for some of the images from last 30 days.  I did discover in my backups a folder called "Corrupt Catalogues" going back to January 12.  this backup and previous ones do have history.  I guess i will have to go back to one of these backups and re-load images taken since then.

Did you import all of these photos into a new catalog?

What does it say in the History Panel of one of these photos?

The History Panel has to include at least the Import step, are you saying that there is only the Import step in the History Panel? If so, what date is shown in the Import step? Or are you saying there really "nothing" there meaning no Import step in the History Panel?

Please also answer my other question: "Did you import all of these photos into a new catalog?"

Thanks @dj_paige   The history panel only had a down arrow/up arrow.  nothing there - not even the import step.

All fixed when I went back to a Catalogue from January before the corrupt catalogue showed up.  It was a pain as i lost all of my edits since January 12
