Difficulties importing

Contributor ,

I am using the latest version of LR classic on a surface working with Windows 10. I can edit my photographs but once I get to the import panel all hell breaks loose. Anything I do either results in LR not responding or the blue wheel of death. I click on file handling, blue wheel of death. I click on scroll arrow blue wheel of death. And it takes 10 to fifteen minutes to regain control. Is this related to have 10K photos in LR? It's pretty paralytic. thanks

Can you explain how you're editing before importing, Joel? That's what you seem to be saying.

Also, you'll need to provide full details of your compluter - post the result of clicking Help > System Info...

Finally, are your GPU drivers up to date? (Definitely up to date, as confirmed by the GPU/driver software or the GPU website - not Windows driver tools.)

While the members who may have an idea what is occurring once they see your system info, and a bit more info (as requested above) , perhaps two possible diagnostic steps (separately)

1. If use Graphics Processor, is turned on in Preferences, turn it off, close then restart LrC, and attempt the Import process,

2. With the exception of Mouse and Keyboard, disconnect any USB devices, including external hard drive, including external Card Reader, and especially including any Smart Phone (Android the usual suspect on phones), Lights, Camera, WebCAM, headphones, etc. Even if that disconnects photo source. Point is to see if an IRQ conflict, or device issue is occurring.
