Downloading via card readers, only getting empty files

I have a Canon R5 mk2 and a computer running the latest Windows 11 with Lightroom Classic ver. 14.1.1 installed. The problem I have is downloading photos via a card reader. I can down load with no problems straight from the camera into lightroom clasic via a c to c usb cable but when I try to download via the two type b readers, that I have, all that gets imported into the lightroom source toolbar is empty folders with no photos in them. Any ideas how I can resolve this?

Hi @KAdams8990,

Sounds like you’ve already tried multiple cables and readers. If importing directly from your camera works, the issue might be related to the card reader.
I found this discussion on the Canon forums and wonder if it’s the same issue you’re experiencing: https://adobe.ly/4hCS96U.

Let me know if this helps!

Hi,
Thank you for the link. I shall attempt to rectify the problem next week when I have plenty of time to sort it out. I will come back to you and update with the result.
Thank you

I have tried the link with no joy. However better news I now have the Delkin CFexpress type B & SD UHSII reader and this works flawlessly. Thank you for your help. I shall try to avoid Lexar in the future having had a defective card and now a Lexar reader that does not like my windows system.

The card, is it a CFexpress memory card (slot 1) or a SDXC/SDHC/SD memory card (slot 2)

Just a 3.2 gen Lexar CFexpress card reader. When swopping the USB connection for a Delkin SD card reader this works fine.
