I recently upgraded my desktop (Mac) and all my files are correctly synced. Older files are on external hard drives. If I choose Edit In (ie PS or Denoise) for any image on my hard drive - all good. If the image is on an external hard drive it has always worked fine but I now get this message - see screen shot. All images are synced and I can edit any image in LR - it is only those on external harddrives that I want to edit in other software that have this issue - any advice?

Problem solved an worth noting for others who upgrade their destop Mac ...  in my case the external drive was fine BUT it was an older style format .. so I emptied the drive, reformatted to (MAC) APFS and returned images to external hard drive and all good again 🙂
