Error Code LR213:5 "A problem has occurred with licensing" LR6 - Windows 10

New Here ,

I hadn't used LR for some time but yesterday I had a 'pop-up' message when trying to upen LR6:

So I retried opening it, rebooting the PC and then attempting to open - all to no avail.

Removed LR6 and again tried to open it but with the same message.

Today I went through the registry and searched for any key with Lightroom in it and came across the bellow registry key:

"Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\lightroom.exe\a1154be3cc1c6670_PD

Debugger \norton\utilities\autoreactivator.exe"

Which was a reminder that I had installed Norton Utilities since I had last used LR.

So I deleted the key "Debugger \norton\utilities\autoreactivator.exe" and tried again.

Same message.

As I thought that Norton Utilities might thus be a problem (and considering there were also reports on the internet relating to autoreactivator.exe (from other company's products) under "Image File Execution Options" causing problems, I removed the whole key refering to Lightroom (as above) and searched for, and removed any other key related to Lightroom that might be be problematic in the registry (Drastic, but I'm not in any way an expert on Windows Registry).

Then I removed Norton utilities, rebooted and re-installed Lighroom LR6.

Voila! LR6 is now working again.

Going back to the registry I went back to inspect the original key with the 'autoreactivator.exe' - only it wasn't there any more.

There was no path past : "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node"

The

"\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\lightroom.exe\a1154be3cc1c6670_PD"

path and keys no longer existed in the registry.

i.e. the part of the path beginning "Miscrosoft\", under the WOW6432Node, had gone completely

So it would seem that there might be  a problem running Norton Utilities with LR6 - and maybe other versions?

Anyway, just though I'd bring this to the attention of other users in case they run into a similar problem.

Just uninstalling Norton Utilities and deleting the path and registry key(s) following the path :

"Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\"

Might solve the problem without reinstalling LR.

Sorry, but I don't have time to repeat and check myself but perhaps this is something Adobe should look into and chat with Norton, if appropriate.

Otherwise, hope this is of benefit to others.

Cheers
