I have just come across the fact that entries appear in the Sync Actvity (as Downloading) that do not disappear. However, my sync status shows a green tick, so nothing needs to be synced.
When I click on the entries, the browser opens, but no image appears, instead it continues to load the content of the URL without coming to an end.
What are these entries? How do I get rid of them? Once an entry briefly showed the additional info "Pending Masks" when hovering over it.
I have also tried [Delete All Synced Data]. That did nothing.

OK, Just in case anyone has this problem again. It's fixed thanks to a tip I've got in the kelbyone user forum. In short:
There were obviously a bunch of images that (for a reason I can't understand) had pending metadata changes.
When I clicked on an entry in the list, I thought that the corresponding file was missing from the cloud. The browser window stayed black and it loaded, loaded, loaded... So I kept canceling it.
Now it turns out that I had to wait much longer and finally I saw the image in

To fix it I had to reset the settings in the browser, edit the image on my desktop in LrC (e.g. converting to b&w) and wait for it to synchronize in the browser. Afterwards it’s syncing both ways and the entry in the Sync Activity table disappeared. This is really mysterious.
