It was requested by people who wanted a way to track which images had been exported from a particular source. So if you were working on a project that requires 100 images and you are not sure if exported all of them, create a Smart Collection and use Exported as a criterion. I was confused by having date fields as the arguments for the Exported choice.  Now it makes sense = now that you pointed out that there is a metadata variable for Last Exported Date.  I had not seen that particular variable in my various trips through metadata choices - Default, EXIF, IPTC, EXIF and IPTC, etc.  So, I did exactly as you suggested, found the Last Exported Date option in the numerous choices presented there, and quickly had a selection set of photos exported within a date range.

Thanks for your quick and accurate response.

Oh, may I ask, how you could identify photos NOT exported and, so as to not have a giant collection, within a specific collection set?  Changing the setting to "None" gets all of the non-exported photos but doesn't seem to allow narrowing the field down to a specific collection or folder.
