Exporting a portion of a catalog?

I have an exeternal hard drive and usually work on my desktop but am going on vaca and was hoping to work on my laptop. What's the best way to do that?

Select the photos desired (or select the folders desired) (or select the collections desired) and then File->Export as Catalog. More details in the LrC Help files at https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/create-catalogs.html (scroll down to Export as Catalog)

then when I'm ready to rejoin it just do the same but import?
