Hi Mark, I'll try to help you figure this out. Edit In PS functionality needs correct permissions & file access both ways.

Where are the original images stored? On the internal drive or an external drive?

Try these steps to iron out any underlying permission issues.

• Ensure Lightroom Classic & Photoshop have the required permissions on macOS: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/quick-tips-how-to-give-full-disk-acces...

• Try this step on the external drive, where images are stored if needed.

  • Search for Disk Utility from Finder's spotlight search or magnifying glass.
  • Run 'First Aid' diagnostic on the external drive. Check this to learn more: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210898
  • Restart the computer
