Since the latest update Lightroom has been extremely slow in exporting jpegs and for some reason it's eating up hard drive space for very small jpegs. Does anyone know what is causing this or how i can rectify? My laptop is a macbook pro M1 with Big Sur v11.5.2

Please show us the first screen from Help->System Info. (Use the "Insert Photos" icon to include screen captures in your reply; do not attach files).

Please be specific. Give us an idea of how many photos are being exported and how long it takes

... and for some reason it's eating up hard drive space for very small jpegs.

Please be specific. What is the file size in megabytes of a typical JPG in this export that is eating up hard drive space? How big was the original file, in pixels or megapixels (I do not want megabytes here).

It's taken me about 4 hours to export 1200 (approx) jpegs of 587 kbs
(approx) size from Lightroom. The entire gallery (now exported) is 1.23GBs
but took up all the space on my harddrive (approx 400gbs) when exporting,
to the point where the computer said I had to shut down things because I
had no more operating space. The available harddrive space went down to
14GBs during the export process.

Something is wrong with your export settings then.

First, please tell me, select ONE of these 1200 exported files. How much space does this one exported file take up? What are the pixel dimensions of (width and height) of this one exported file?
