Files show up as shadows

when bringing files to lightroom that I shot with raw some files wont import.  They are shodowed out.  they show up on the memory card on the camera.  this happen twice with 2 different cameras

What specific camera and version of ACR or LR used?

If you disable ignore duplicates, what happens?

• What MACOS?
• What cameras?

This almost always indicates the photos have already been imported into Lightroom Classic. So you should not import them again.

Some people report a rare bug that causes this to happen when the photos are brand new and have never been imported prviously. First, before we believe this is a bug, you should search by file name in the Lightroom Classic catalog under "All Photographs" for these photos to see if you can find them.
