My system is following

1. PC Windows Desktop (LR Classic)

2. iPhone & iPad (LR Mobile)

3. Macbook (LR Classic)

I have been worked with "1.LR Classic in PC" and "2.LR Mobile".

They were synced with no problems.

However, when I tried to set up the thrid system, 3.Macbook,

files are all messed up in the LR C in Macbook.

I have tons of files and some of them have same name.

Such as, There is a file with name of ABC0123.DNG in Collection [A]. And There is a different photo but the same name of ABC0123.DNG in Collection [B]. (This happens because my camera reset the counting number)

No problems with 1.PC and 2.Mobile.

But after I installed LR Classic in Macbook and tried to sync files, ABC0123.DNG photo in Collection [A] is changed to ABC0123.DNG in Collection [B].

Is there any solution for this problem?

My camera creates image name with a 4 numeric ending similar to your description.

See the screen capture which shows my import renaming of the image name to add a 3-digit sequence number. This would avoid a repeat naming. The original 4-digit numbering will repeat after 9999 images, and the 3-digit will repeat after 999 images.

My only thought is to rename the duplicate originals by adding a -2.  or make manual corrections with a rename of your choice.

I have literally "thousand of files" on the cloud. so... a single photo by photo re-naming is too much burden I guess... 😞

I have may find the reason why this happnes.

If I make a collection and sync the collection from a machine (which is "server-like", origin machine),

the other machine, which downloads photos from cloud server, is storing the photos into a single folder.

As you can see following screenshot, "MobileDownloads.lrdata/downloaded-smart-previews/[filename]"

therefore, files that have same name has been overwritten.... in the "client-like" machine.

I have been managed the photos with same name by storing in different folers on "sever-like" machine.

But when I try to sync the photos from "server-like" machine to "client-like" machine, by using adobe cloud server,

the "client-like" machine stores all the photos into the single folder. And at this point, the photos with the same name are messed up, I GUESS....

I have no idea how to re-naming the already cloud-uploaded "Having same names but in different folers" photos...
