Recently, I have noted that the filter area in gallery view is larger than usual leaving only one strip of images at the bottom of the screen
I can drag the bottom border up
but the next time I enter lightroom, the filter area is expanded again (as in first image).
Running Windows 10 (build 19043) on Dell XPS 15 (9570). This behaviour is relatively new.
Any suggestions on how to keep the filter area set to a reasonable height?
Thanks... B
A couple things to try:
- Click the Filter preset menu and select Restore Default Presets. (You won't lose your custom presets.)
- Try resetting LR's preferences:

LR sometimes soils its preferences file, and resetting it can fix all sorts of wonky behavior. That article explains how to restore the old preferences if resetting doesn't help.

You are leaving LrC with Attribute and Metadata filtering selectedm(With Attribute in focus) Try clicking on None.
incidental, if you bring Metadata into focus, does it try to fill in that blank space?

Hi GoldingD, I tried various combinations and enabling Metadata always brings up the long version (regardless of filter name specified).

Also, bottom right, Brians Filters.Perhaps when Brians Filters was composed, the blank space existed, so this is how it was last saved (the custom filter)

I deleted "Brian's Filters" and created it again after dragging the lower border up to the correct possition. It reverted to the "long view" again after closing and re-opening. I created a new preview (different name) and still have the same problem when "Attributes" are included in the preview.
This is a problem that has only popped up recently (i.e. July'21). I can only imagine that it has to do with a recent LrC update.

Good. Which fixed it -- Restore Default Presets or resetting LR's preferences?
