Find defaults to "any searchable field" and "contains all"

When I do command-F to Find, if I haven't used the program in a while (not sure how long before it's triggered), the boxes revert to "Any Searchable Field" and "Contains All." I almost always use "Filename" and "Contains," so if I don't notice this and change both of these boxes, the search takes a long time, and I have to reset both of these boxes, at least once a day. It's been doing this for a few months, I think. It used to stay the way you left it.

May I ask a question here? (bear with me please)

  • I keyword family photos by individual name ... min is 'bob'
  • I filtered all photos using 'Any Searchable Field + Contains + bob' in all photographs
  • the result was my photo(s) and thousands of other family members (I am in my Family folder)
  • I selected one photo that did not contain me (bob) in it and viewed every metadata selection (defauly, EXIF, IPTC etc and could not find any field with 'bob'.
  • the only place I saw 'bob' was in the navigation path ... HD>users>bobkyle>all Lightroom>Jpeg>etc
  • Yet when I choose another family member name (kayla) - the search results are only that individual.
  • Questions - 1) why does this search find others ... is it reading the navigation path? 2) where is it finding 'bob'  (I know I can use people facial search but I was interested if others see tissue and can it be filtered diffently and still use 'any searchable field'
  • Thanks

A quick experiment shows that Any Searchable Field does search the full folder path of photos.  I put a single photo in the nested folder bobxxx/janetyyy, and doing "Any Searchable Field contains bobxxx" yields that photo.

Adobe has never defined precisely which fields are searched, so you have to do these experiments when in doubt.
