You likely haven't saved the PSD with Maximize Compatibility.  Set this Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility to Always:

Note that due to a long-time Photoshop bug that Adobe refuses to fix, you can't change that option and then do File > Save -- that won't have any effect.  You'll need to do File > Save A Copy after changing the option.

"You'll need to do File > Save A Copy after changing the option."

IIRC- making the simplest of edits to the image re-opened in Ps, it will then [Save] with 'Maximize compatibility' and show the image in LrC.

I just retested, and the bug still exists -- you need to do File > Save A Copy to incorporate a change in Maximize Compatibility.  Note that this is only required for PSD/PSBs with more than one layer; in files with one layer, that layer also serves as the compatibility layer.

Here's the original bug report:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-bugs/p-changing-maximize-compatibility-doesn-t-af...

The bug report was incorrectly marked as fixed -- see the reply from Adobe employee Jeffrey Tranberry acknowledging that Save As is required:

Here's a relatively recent report observing the same misbehavior:
