Healing too turns to a Black and White negative

I am on a Windows Pro platform with LR 11.0.1

How do I keep the healing brush from turning into a black and white negative. I need to heal the white imperfections on the floor of these event photographs. See the attached example. It is impossible to work with.

Look at the bottom left of your image window. There is an option 'Visualize Spots'. Turn that off. Or press the 'A' key.
