Help needed with LR and Google drive

Having run out of space on my hard drive, I want to store all my photos on Google drive but leave the LR catalog on the computer; and possibly previews. Would be grateful to guidance as to how I can do that properly through LR.

I would also like to backup the photos stored on the Google drive to an external hard drive.
I'm still quite confused by LR's file management system, hence this request for guidance.

 Thank you in advance

Sorry I forgot to mention that I'm using Lightroom Classic.

I once had an unlimited Google Drive account as part of my retirement package from a university. That account was subsequently revoked, so I stopped using it. But at the time I had the account I simply imported images to the Google Drive using the Lightroom Classic import dialog, and everything functioned as expected. The only thing I recall is that it took a few minutes for everything to synchronize after the download completed, but it didn't interfere with beginning to edit the images. My catalog and previews remained on the local hard drive. You can configure the import dialog to store a second copy on your external hard drive during import if you choose to do so.
