I had to rollback from 13 -> 12, how do I access my 12 Catalog?

Community Beginner ,

Hi all,

Title should say it all really, my LRC updated to 13 about a month ago, most of my work had been 'light & airy' images, so I hadn't noticed the  issue with the shadow areas looking strange on export.  I recently had two shoots which were predominantly very dark images with start contrast, that's when I first noticed the strange artefcts!  I read up on the issue, thought that rolling back to 12 would solve my problems... until I realise I can't open the upgraded catalog I had been working from!!!

So that I don't need to recreate the past month's worth of work, is there a way to have LRC12 read the files & edits etc in the 13 catalog?  I can install LRC13 on a seperate system if I need to access the catalog to make any changes to prepare it for LRC12 on my main system.  MacOS if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance, hoping there's a relatively easy answer out there!!

So, tonight's, LrC v13.1.0 is available. I have no idea what changed, what's fixed, what's added.

I do notice that Adobe is replying in some posts that the issue (in the post) has been addressed in the update (these are posts that an Adobe tech was previously involved in/with)

update/ V13.1.0 adds cameras, lenses, and has bug fixes.

I do not see this issue in the list of fixed bugs however.

If you kept the old v12 catalog, no big issue, just open it.  (Locate it in Finder, and Double click on it) Mind you any v13 imports and post processing will not exist.

Thanks, yeah that's my issue, I've got the v12 catalog, but it's the work from the past month I need to deliver, which was all managed in v13

Do you keep .xmp 'sidecar' files?  If so, I think you can Import the v13 work in the v12 catalog.   Don't know how to test it because I don't have a need to roll back.  Can you open v13 long enought to create the .xmp files for the work from this month?

No, I don't... but in reading up how to get around this that idea did come up, it was a real SMH moment!  I'll be honest, I did love the day when .xmp files were no longer the standard, my folders looked so much cleaner!  Now I'm seeing I was a bit shortsighted not to continue with them...  Thanks, I'll look into setting that up.  At the moment I've fired up v13 on a laptop which doesn't seem to be having the same export issues as my MacPro, so I'll use this to get these jobs delivered then use the Christmas break to sort out making my v13 catalog v12-friendly.

Thanks, I'll be keeping a close eye on that!  While I've got v13 running properly on my laptop I'll keep track of the updates and try them on the desktop to see how it's going...

And that brings up a point. You above post was/is all about trying to recover rolling LrC back. But, what about the actual problem. I will search in a bit, but did you post the actual problem as to ask if any members know how to fix?

I would have thought the issue would have been dealt with in the new bug fixes (if it was a bug)

Sounds like LrC 13 works on one computer but not another? OS difference?? GPU difference??

I saw there were already a number of posts about the actual problem, some with support activity, so I didn't want to muddy the waters with yet another post asking the same thing!  The general advice seemed to be to rollback until the issues had been addressed, but I couldn't find any info on maintaining your catalog after rollback, which is my immediate issue.  I'm confident support will be working on this one in the background since there has been quite a lot of discussion on it (here and on the wider net), it'll just be a waiting game I guess.

Re system differences, yes, my Macbook Pro is newer than the Mac pro, hopefully my desktop system hasn't become obselete already!

LATEST

I set v13.1 to upadate on our Mac Pro (the system which had been having the export issue) while I was out on a job this evening.  I've just returned and fired up LRC, and while backing up today's work I ran a couple quick exports of images which had very obvious artefacts under v13... I can say that v13.1 has (for my system at least!) solved this issue!

Two things

1. As your issue is not actually solved (or am I wrong) you may want to undo that marking my reply as correct. It gives the false impression that everything is great. Gives members looking for the same issue a wrong impression.

2. Is your underlying problem, this one?:

Yes, that's one of the threads I came across when I was searching, I just saw the latest post mentioning v13.1 possibly offering a fix, fingers crossed!
