In conjunction with changing to a new M1 iMac I wanted to copy my lrcat file to the destop in case somethingwent wrong. Unfortunately, instead of copying it, I moved it to the desktop. When starting the new iMac, it made a new lrcat and started using that. Now I am not able to move the old lrcat file back to the correct place. Everytime I start LR it starts with the new catalog and I have to go to File and open the old catalog manually and close the new one.

How can I get my old catalog back and delete the new one?

Move the old catalog back to where ever you want it (using your operating system). Then double-click on it to open.
