Images editing in synced collection not syncing back to LR Classic

I have a collection on LR Classic which I sync. I then open the collection on LR mobile on iPad. I choose to edit an image in Photoshop on iPad, and then when finishing return it back to LR Mobile. The resulting PSD file appears in the LR Mobile colleciton but does not sync back to LR Classic. I also see it on LR on the web. In general I find the syncing between LR mobile and classic to be quite buggy requiring multiple deletions and recreations.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. We are sorry about the trouble with Adobe Lightroom & Lightroom Classic. We are here to help!

Could you please share the version of Lightroom Classic along with the version of macOS? Please confirm if you have set up 'Specify location for Lightroom's Synced images:' under Lightroom Classic > Preferences > Lightroom Sync.

Does this issue occur with PSD documents in specific, or do all other documents behave similarly?

Please log on to Lightroom Web (https://lightroom.adobe.com) to check current Sync issues. If there are any sync issues, please click on them to know more, find the original for those images, and back them up safely before you empty the Sync issues from Lightroom Web.

Please let us know if this helps!
Regards,
Sameer K

Hi Sameer,

I am using LRC version 11.2 with Mac OS 10.15.7.

Specify location is not checked.

At the moment all the tiff files in the synced collection are syncing when
adjusted on LR Mobile on the iPad, only the PSD files are not showing up at
all.

I don't see any sync issues on the LR on the web in the collection.

Regards,

Gil.

Is your PSD saved with Maximum Compatibility checked?

The save of the PSD is performed by Photoshop.

I don’t see this option on photoshop for iPad. Just to remind you of the
workflow: I import images on to LRC, then create a synced collection from a
folder. I edit the images on my iPad, beginning in LRM, editing in
Photoshop for on the iPad and then return the image to LRM. LRM creates a
PSD file of the edited image, but this file is not synced back to LRC.

It’s a bit confusing, have I explained it clearly?

If you are returning the image via the [Send to Lightroom] Button you shouldn't have to worry about it.

I performed this test:

  1. Sync DNG from Classic to Cloud (becomes Smart Preview)
  2. On LrM (iPad) I select and send to Photoshop using the Share Icon
  3. On PS, I add a brush stroke
  4. Hit the [Send to Lightroom] Button
  5. PS file syncs back to Cloud (note: this takes a lot longer to happen as it is a bigger file now)
  6. File appears in LrM and syncs (again - takes longer as it is a PSD file instead of a Smart Preview)
  7. File appears in LrC.

After step 6 the file is visible at https://lightroom.adobe.com - Can you verify this happens?

All of this happens except the last stage where it does not sync back to
LRC.

Now it's showing up in the original folder. No idea what's going on. Is
specify location for Lightroom Synced images supposed to checked?

So, the file came back and is in the same folder as the original you sent out?

Yes, although I don’t know what fixed it.
