Import dialog shows no files

New Here ,
Feb 14, 2023 Feb 14, 2023

New problem crept up since yesterday (2/23/23): Upon opening the Import dialog, Lightroom Classic shows folders under Source but no files whatsoever, not on my harddrive, not on my external drives. Yes, there are image files in those folders but none appear. Intel Mac 2015, OS is Monterey 12.6.3.  Checked Mac system preferences/Security & Privacy/Full Disk Access shows Adobe Lightroom Class has full disk access.  I upgraded Lightroom Classic from 12.1 to 12.2 but the problem remains.  Did an Uninstall then a re-install through the Creative Cloud app.  Reboot computer and application. No joy.  I can export to my drives, so it would seem that it is just the Import module that is broken.

No, not the upper right, over on the right, further down, the actual destination panel.

Perhaps you have hidden the panel.Place your mouse over the gray area to the left of the words "Apply During Import", and right click, a option panel should come up.

Make sure that Lightroom Classic has Full Disk Access. This linked article describes how, although the UI may be different if you're using Ventura.

As I mentioned, the app has Full Disk Access.  It is also checked under Accessibility.

Was that date a typo, or did you get that from your computer?

Errors in system clock used to cause problems.

Oh my goodness.  Yes,  That's a typo.  Thanks for spotting it.  Amend to say 2/13/23.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with my starting today to reread Stephen Hawkins' "A Briefer History of Time."  More like watching "Back to the Future."  May I hope that an answer will dawn on us yesterday?

In the destinations panel (not shown) double check that the destination is currently valid, not some location that previously worked, but was moved/rename/removed outside of LrC.

Thank you for that suggestion.  I renewed my destination choice using "Other Dsitination ... " in the "To" block (upper right).  No luck.  I also tried renewing my source choice using "Other Source ... " in the "From" block (upper left).  Still no luck.

Yikes!  Where did that come from?  I've never seen that panel before - at least not there.  And upon it's appearance all my source image files showed up over on the Source side.  Thank you, GoldingD.

And thanks, too, to Ian and Kenneth for their contributions to this thread.  Great community.

You saved my life. For weeks I haven't been able to import anything to LrC. I finally googled and found this thread. Thank you so much!

This is an issue with Windows version now.  Import window shows "No photos" ... I just toggled the "Include subfolders" on and then off again and hey-presto, I have photos!

It's a good idea to reset LrC preferences when the app does strange things.

BTW, reinstalling the program will not reset preferences.

I'm experiencing the same bug, at first, I thought no files imported as Lightroom showed a message "No files found to import" So I did it again. The same message showed that is when I noticed that there were now two copies for each photo, but it still showed no files in the folder. I used Lightroom to delete the duplicates and now it is showing a count of minus 179.

So, your photos are on your NAS or other LAN share, what about your catalog? Where do you keep the catalog?

Keeping the photos on a server share, be it on a LAN such as a NAS, or on the Cloud, is supposedly supported by Adobe, but often leads to issues, typically needing the folder(s) to be fixed (update folder location). But storing the catalog on a server share is not, Oh, some make it work, but eventually the catalog gets corrupted.

GoldingD, thank you for your reply. The photos are stored on a Synology NAS system and the catalogues on my local SSD.  I never had this issue before it only started after the last update for Lightroom.

Hi, I seem to be encountering something similar. I have tried a number of things, updating folder location, sync folder, full disk access, and every time the message is the same. Please see screen captures.Screenshot 2023-09-11 at 7.54.28 PM.pngScreenshot 2023-09-11 at 7.57.45 PM.pngScreenshot 2023-09-11 at 7.54.36 PM.png

Doing same on Windows 11 PC now, but not consistently!  LrC v8 just installed but didn't fix the issue.

Do you mean Lr 8? Are you are talking about Lightroom and not Lightroom Classic? You are in the wrong forum, you want the Lightroom ecosystem forum
