... i have an option to import to a second destination

Copying to a second location saves an exact copy only of the original photo. The second copy is NOT imported into LrC. Since the second copy is not imported, no adjustments can be applied by LrC to this second copy.

It sounds as if you are wanting to make a backup of your work in LrC. If so, you need to use the LrC backup feature to make backups of your catalog file to a different physical disk than where the original disk is located; and you must have backups of all of your photos (ideally backed up into a folder hierarchy that matches exactly the folder hierarchy of the actual original photos).

It is not clear what you mean by "second back up hard drive" or by "I will have to back up the second hard drive the same as i do the first hard drive". It seems to me you are still not grasping the concepts here. Please explain further. What drives do you have, what drives are the photos on, and where will the backups be stored?

The purpose of saving to a second location is to create a backup copy of the original files (i.e. what comes off the camera/sd card). No adjustments are included, no renaming on import, etc.

DJ said it best...! "LrC backup feature" is set under  the Lightroom CLassic> in the top title bar> select Catalog settings >Backups, and then set your pr3eferences as to where the catalog back ups should be stored (your external drive). You can then choose to back uo everytime LR exits, once a week, etc...  I suggest you also make a back up of all the photo files in a second location, whether during import or using a cloning tool, like carbon copy cloner, or other. Both the photo files (which are your negatives) and your catalog (the work you have done such as sorting, editing, cropping,) should both have duplicates on at least one external drive, preferbaly 2 or even 3, with one kept off site, in case of computer disaster or other disasters.
