Is LR Classic sluggish?

Enthusiast ,

Hi guys,

I find it so. Does it have anything to do with the new Embedded and sidecar importing?

The images are slow in loading,  adjustments like cropping and White balance are slow to implement or are delayed.

Classic was supposed to make things faster. Any inkling?

Thanks,

Raphael

I don't use the embedded and sidecar option, and I don't see any performance problems. I'm using an older Windows computer with just 8 GB RAM.

Thanks Jim.

Hopefully someone who does will respond.

I just tried using the embedded and sidecar option which I do not usually use, and it seems fine.

I have a Macbook pro  2013 with 16 gb of ram. I am running on an SSD drive.

Thank you kent design.

Maybe someone will know what ails MY system. It's baffling.

I, too, use a Macbook Pro and the latest software packages.

Have you tried disabling GPU support in the Lightroom preferences to see if that helps?

I don't know what GPU support is or what it does.

It's support for the graphics processor unit. This was added primarily for those who have high resolution monitors. In the Lightroom preferences on the performance tab you can disable this feature. Doing so can help to improve performance in many instances. If it doesn't make any difference on your computer you can always go back and enable the graphics processor unit again.

As suggested above, I would try disabling this and see if it makes a difference

Additionally, your MBP may just need a good old cleaning routine. How much RAM do you have? Is your HD almost full? Empty your trash regularly? I use CleanMyMac twice a month.

I personally don't seem to be having any problems with Lightroom Classic being sluggish. I have 16GB of RAM and 1TB HD (about 300GB used) on a mid 2015 MacBook Pro.

Thank you Melissa. LR seems to have settled and is performing just fine at the moment.

Who knows why it didn't at first!
