Hi! I've a question about the quaility of the images in the Library module. I always do a screenshot of this to sent it to my clients to choose their favourite photos, but a few months ago, I saw this screnshots have a worse quality than in the past. Is it possible to increase it in Lightroom? You can see an example below.

Thanks!

Hola!

Gracias!

I don't see any problems with these previews, they look perfectly normal to me.

There are no options for preview quality, but you can generate 1:1 (full size) previews if you like.

But for thumbnails, it doesn't matter if the previews are standard size or full size.

Have you ever given thought to using the Print Module and creating a Contact Sheet Template.?

With a Print Template defined it is almost as easy as screen-clipping. You get a nice clean page without the detail of the Library Grid view, and you can set the number of images on a page, change background color, add a Identity Plate, etc. Also with a suitable app (Adobe Acrobat or freeware eg. 'PrimoPDF') you can [Print to PDF] and give your clients a PDF document.

So, looking at the posting by the Author, and a inclusion reply by Ivan33091469fc99  this is referring to the library Grid view, the Thumbnails in the grid view, not a standard preview in a Loupe view.  These previews IMO were never meant to act as contact sheets.

Inquiry for the members,

What previews are used for the Filmstrip, and for the Grid View?

A Screen-clip of the Library Grid view will depend entirely on the monitor pixel dimensions-  So for example a screen-clip might be 1920 x 1080px IF the grid was viewed full-screen!  As a result the thumbnails in that clip will of very low resolution.

Example- a Grid of [6 columns x 4 rows] would produce thumbnails approximately 320 x 270 pixels. You cannot expect these thumbnails to be of 'quality', or to show detail.

OTOH - A  PDF created from the Print module at 1600ppi  ( and perhaps A3 'paper) will produce a PDF that has far more detail and quality so that each thumbnail in the PDF can be enlarged [Windows CTRL+(+) ]to view with the better detail.

Some of my testing screen-clips-

Here is the BEST I could get from a screen-clip of the LrC Grid view-  (ONE thumbnail enlarged from the JPG clip!)

2023-10-27 11_17_23-OS_PopupWindow.jpg

And by using the Print module to create a Spread-sheet  at 1200ppi and A3 'Paper'

2023-10-27 11_06_42-Roberts Catalog-v13 - Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic - Print.jpg

The resulting PDF (full-screen)

2023-10-27 11_08_22-Lightroom (19970801--M-RHC-015.pdf - Foxit PDF Reader.jpg

One thumbnail in the PDF visible with the screen enlarged-

2023-10-27 11_11_45-Lightroom (19970801--M-RHC-015=2.pdf - Foxit PDF Reader.jpg

No contest!- The PDF wins.  (Granted- the PDF will be MUCH larger than a JPG clip...)
