Lighroom Classic batch export of many images is slow

Upgraded to Lightroom 13.0.1 using Windows 11 x64 (Version 10.0.22631 Build 22631) all drivers up to date. Trying to export 300 images and it takes nearly 1 hour.  Neither CPU nor GPU is under load during export. Already tried enabling and disabling GPU export feature.  (Export is JPG, no resize or image size restrictions, no watermark)

Tried to export the same images (with same settings) with Lightroom CC and it was finished under 10 minutes (I would have switched to CC for export but I have all my edits in the catalog for Lighroom 13)

Any hope this bug can be resolved?

p.s. this is not a discussion topic, this is a regression bug.

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut out as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs and it takes up vast amounts of scroll space making the reply less readable and less likely that others will bother with your post.

I tried export to the same drive where raw images are and to another drive. Both drives are NVME SSD with more 50% free space

You've got the latest Studio driver installed. Unfortunately, there's a bug in LR 13, where Export ignores the setting of Preferences > Performance > Use GPU For Export and always tries to use the GPU:

Another way to test whether there's an issue between LR and the GPU is to boot Windows into Safe Mode With Networking:

This will cause Windows to disable the GPU.  If Exports then use about 90% of the CPU,  that confirms there is an issue between LR and the GPU.

 

Adobe isn't likely to pay much attention to this issue unless many people report the same problem. While there are a few reports of slow exports in LR 13, if there were a widespread general problem, we'd see a huge number of complaints here. This suggests that your issue is something particular to your configuration (not necessarily anything wrong with it, just something that trips up LR).

It looks really like a problem that Lightroom 13 ignores the setting "Use GPU for Export". I followed your advice and booted Windows in a safe mode and tried the same export. Now the CPU usage went to 100% and export was faster. I hope Adobe fixes this bug, booting into safe mode for each export is not a solution 😂

When you updated that GPU driver, did you select Custom for install type, as to force a clean install? If not, some old junk might exist on the computer related to the GPU.

Running LR in safe mode was just a diagnostic, confirming that the issue is with LR's use of the GPU. I think it's likely that LR 13.1, due out in mid-December, will fix the bug with the Use GPU For Export option, so that should be available as a more practical workaround.

 

The performance bug could be in LR or the graphics driver. Adobe is constantly trying to improve how LR uses GPUs, and manufacturers are constantly releasing new drivers fixing bugs and improving performance. LR doesn't code to particular graphics cards or drivers but rather to the standard Apple and Windows operating-system APIs. So when a problem occurs that strikes a relatively small number of people, it's more often (BUT NOT ALWAYS) caused by buggy graphics drivers.,  There are hundreds of posts here over the last couple years where installing a newer driver fixed an issue.

 

If you haven't done too much work in LR 13, you could roll back to LR 12.5. Or you could try installing an older version of the Nvidia driver, say one from 3 or 4 months ago:

That sometimes helps when the most recent driver(s) has bugs.
