Lightoom export file causes unwanted file rename

Explorer ,
Mar 12, 2023 Mar 12, 2023

Hi, I have worked this problem to death. When I export a file from Lightroom using a User Preset the file is renamed by prefixing the date. This is not a selected option in the preset settings where I have specified no renaming of files. I have even examined the XML file and there is no renaming clause specified there yet the problem persists.

Are you sure you are looking at the correct preset? Export presets are .lrtemplate files, not .xml files.

Yes the file name extension is .lrtemplate but the file is an XML file. Open one up and you will see.

I know, but I wondered if you had some version with an .xml extension and so were looking at the wrong version. I agree with @Sean McCormack . Remake that preset because it is definitely the cause.

I'd suggest remaking the preset in that case.

I have done that too. Lr seems to 'remember' things in the catalog. I keep getting the same result.

Here is an example of the original file name: 20230217-IMG_4900-Edit-1.tif

Here is the output from the export process 20230313-20230217-IMG_4900-Edit-1.tif

As you see the date has been prepended even though it was not requested in the export settings.

To confirm, here is a section of the export XML file

tokenCustomString = "",
tokens = "{{image_name}}-{{naming_sequenceNumber_1Digit}}",

Very perplexing

Export settings are remembered from the last time, so yes you will keep getting the same result by default.

Making an export preset is not enough to ensure consistency by itself - that preset needs to also get actively recalled on subsequent occasions, so as to re-impose any export settings which may have meanwhile come to vary.

As an example: I often enter batch keywords during import. Re-selecting my named preset (which I now do habitually each and every time) clears any previously entered keywording, and prevents any import destination etc surprises.

Did you restart Lightroom in between? If not, try that first. It that doesn't help either then try resetting the preferences:
