The Adobe Stock publishing service uploads a keyword even if Include On Export is unchecked. To reproduce:

1. Create the keyword "Test", unchecking the attribute Include On Export.

2. Apply Test to a photo.

3. With the photo selected, select Will Export and observe that Test is not displayed.

4. Drag the photo to Submit To Adobe Stock under the Adobe Stock publishing service, select Submit To Adobe Stock, and click Publish.

5. When asked, click Yes to Go To Adobe Stock To Complete Your Submission And Start Selling.

6. Observe that Test appears in the Keywords for the photo on Adobe Stock:

See the attached screen recording.

This bug doesn't occur with other publish services, pointing the finger at the Adobe Stock plugin.

Tested with LR 11.0.1 / Mac OS 11.6.

Hello,

I'm running last version of Lightroom on Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7

I've just realized that there is a bug (I think) never seen before: I used to tag photos both with keywords for metadata export both for my personal internal search use only.

In previous versions it was easy to note that a specific keywords should not be exported, just double clicking the tag on keyword list and dialog box let you choose if that specific keyword should be exported or not.

Now it seems that this do not work anymore.

The dialog box still appears but checking or unchecking any of the choices (not only the include / exclude from export) does not give any results.
And now if I export image it contains all keywords, also that ones that I usually exlude.

Is there a solution for this? It's a bug?

I have the italian version.

Thanks for any help

Learned something new

Ok, one test.

  • Selected one Photo
  • Added two keywords, California, and Roses.
  • Brought up keyword list, double clicked on Roses, clicked top option, that unchecked all, excluding from export.
  • Export screen at defaults. Exported. Roses not included in keywords in the new photo, California is as desired.

So, not an issue on my rig in small experiment.

I just did a quick test and unchecking the keyword option Include On Export is working in my LR 11 / Mac OS.

1. How are you determining that the unwanted keyword is in the exported photo?

2. In Library, select a photo with the keyword. In the Keywording panel, select Keyword Tags: Will Export:

johnrellis_0-1636137217388.png

Does the unwanted keyword show up?

3. Make a test catalog, import one photo, and assign it the keywords A and B. Uncheck the option Include On Export for B. When you export the photo, does B show up in the exported photo's metadata?

Hello GoldingD and hello Johnrellis,

thanks for your replies! 🙂

My answers:

1. How are you determining that the unwanted keyword is in the exported photo?

ANSWER: I export images to be submitted to Adobe stock as a contributor, and when I go to submit them I now can see unwanted keywords exported with the images, never happened before

2. In Library, select a photo with the keyword. In the Keywording panel, select Keyword Tags: Will Export:

Does the unwanted keyword show up?

ANSWER: NO it doesn't! But it was exported

3. Make a test catalog, import one photo, and assign it the keywords A and B. Uncheck the option Include On Export for B. When you export the photo, does B show up in the exported photo's metadata?

ANSWER: I did it but the problem comes before; I'll try to make it clear:

a - I select unwanted keyword in keywords list panel

b- Double click on it: a dialog box appears

(sorry, it's the italian version, but you can understand I think)

Schermata 2021-11-05 alle 21.46.31.png

c- the keyword is correctly UNCHECKED. Now I try to check it, just to test

Schermata 2021-11-05 alle 21.46.51.png

d- I push the save button (SALVA)

e- Double click again on the keyword, and this is the result:

Schermata 2021-11-05 alle 21.47.02.png

f - so the "export include" it's still UNCHECKED! But, at the contrary, the keyword will be exported.

Maybe a problem on italian version only? I cant understand.

Thanks for your help

Ok I have a reply, but it's not easy.

The only way to solve the problem was to completely uninstall Lightroom (preferences also) and reinstall it as a completely clean copy. And now it works.

So it's not a software bug, it was a strange mess with config preferences I think...

New reply to myself.

The issue STILL EXIST, as now again I have unwanted keywords exported together with images.

So I think it's really a bug, I don't know if it is only in the italian version.

Recap:

In previous versions it was possible, in keyword list panel, double click on a singlekeyword and open a dialogue box where you can choose not to export the specific keyword together with the image.

This future had always worked correctly until the last version.

I have thousand of images with the keyword "microstock", I use this inside lightroom to group images made for adobe stock. The dialogue box still exists, and I can still uncheck the "export" checkbox:

BUT when I upload images toi Adobe stock, I see in the keyword list the word "microstock", and this is very annoying as I have to check and delete the unwanted keyword for every single image.

I think this is a bug to correct in new version. The bug exist on my last version of Lightroom on Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7, italian language.

I have a number of keywords setup that are for my use and not for export - they are all marked as such.

However recently when publishing to Adobe Stock they are included in the keywords exported to Adobe.  They don't show in the "Will Export" panel, but do show in "Keywords and containing keywords".

Only happens with Adobe Stock.

Any ideas apppreciated

It's a known bug that hasn't been fixed yet.  Other than deleting the unwanted keywords at the Adobe Stock web site, you could use the Metadata Wrangler plugin to remove them from the published photos:
