Lightroom has been crashing more and more lately when i use the crop tool. Today it is at its worst; crashes EVERY time I go into the crop tool. I thought it was my second monitor at first, nope. Turned that off - have updated graphics drivers, tried turning GPU acceleration off, reset LR preferences, nothing is working. This problem appeared with the most recent update. How do I roll back? I am unable to get any work done because of this!

In the Creative Cloud app, on the line for Lightroom Classic, click on the three dots at the far right. From there, click on Previous Versions. Choose the one you want to roll back to.

Please do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.

Thanks; that's what I thought (would have seen more issues as mine is a common card). Was happening with and without GPU acceleration; guess I didn't turn it back on. Going to roll back to 12.3.1 and see if it is any better.
When was the AI denoiser added? My only concern with rolling back is that I have a few photos in projects I'm still editing that I used it on (sidenote: The AI denoise is AMAZING) and don't want to lose that.

Denoise was added in 12.3.

Please see attached screenshot displaying where/how you can downgrade to 12.3.1. However, before doing so I would encourage you to provide the infomration requested by @John R Ellis

We’ve reviewed the email address you use with this forum and find no crash reports in our system.
Did you see a crash dialog?
Do you use a different email address when filling out the crash report?
Was the crash dialog Adobe’s? Microsoft’s?

Yes but only under the task manager; it's listed under the Lightroom process but isn't visible or clickable. When the software freezes up, the only thing I can do to close it is use the task manager. The crash reporter never manifests on the desktop like it does with Photoshop.

I am having the same problem, no crash report screen, LR just shuts and when you re open it reverts to the previous session. Very annoying. It seems to happen if I use crop twice on the same photo

Same here. Second crop and boom crash

Update after update and still the unstable crop tool persists. If I crop a photo twice Lightroom crashes nearly every time. This is getting ridiculous 😞

I have disabled graphics card, still happens but maybe a little less frequently. I notice the crop tool seems to freeze immediately before LR crashes. Now the catalogue has been updated it makes it very difficult to roll back to the previous version where I didn't see this problem. Drivers for my graphics card are up to date NVidia GeForce GTX 1050 with Stdio driver version 31.0.15.3758. Any suggestions welcome

That driver (537.58) is a month old. There's a newer Studio driver available (546.01). It may not make a difference for this problem but worth updating:

I found that just after I'd posted, have updated driver and....still crashing

I have a 1080TI and Studio drivers are up to date. Same problem.
This has been happening for months thru various driver updates. It's a major bug that is making Lightroom dysfunctional it crashes so much.

I've found the only workaround is disabling GPU. Frustrating but my system is able to pick up the slack.

It's easy to replicate. If I crop a photo it works. If I go to crop another photo it crashes as soon as the crop tool is used.
Here's the crash report I get...

It's easy to replicate. If I crop a photo it works. If I go to crop another photo it crashes as soon as the crop tool is used.
Here's the crash report I get...

Using Google, NVENCODEAPI_Thunk, might be about a bad NVIDIA driver install, or old garbage left behind for a NVIDIA driver.
You might try an uninstall to clean that possibility out followed by a clean install of the driver. Not saying the current released driver is at fault. but that some old garbage was left behind, or the install went wrong.

Thanks, I will give that a try. But since others are experiencing the same problem on different cards and drivers it strikes me as an LR bug rather that a bad driver files problem.

The three graphics processors detailed in this thread are the Nvidia RTX 2070 Super, GTX 1050, and the GTX 1080 Ti. Nvidia generally uses one packaged driver for a bulk of their cards, so it's very possible there's a common bug. Also very possible it's unrelated.

Fair enough. I'll try cleaning out and re installing drivers and report back.

I've updated drivers several times; problem persists but only when I'm using a secondary monitor. If I turn secondary monitor off in lightroom (F11) it doens't occur. This leads me to believe it's a Lightroom issue especially since I use a secondary monitor in Premiere and After Effects all the time and don't have any issues.

The only workaround I've found is turning off GPU in lightroom. Makes Lightroom slower but my system is thankfully beefy enough to pick up the slack but preview building takes a LOT longer.
