I would be very grateful for help on the following issue.
I have had Lightroom 5.7.1 for many years, and have used it regularly.
The catalogue has about 57000 photos.
This morning on opening the software, it looks as if everything has disappeared.
I attach a screen shot.
it is literally a blank screen inviting me to "import".
I am aware that 5.7.1 is no longer supported, but understood that it was was stand-alone and that I had control.
Is this an abnormal situation (it certainly seems so) ? And if so can I recover 5.7.1 as before ?
If not, my only concern is to be able to have the existing catalogue recognised by whatever new version I need to turn to.
Any help will be most appreciated.
Somehow you have accidentally opened an empty catalog.
Go to File->Open Recent and select each catalog shown there until you find hte catalog you want.
If that doesn't work, use your operating system's search feature to search for all files whose name ends with .LRCAT and open each one found until you find the catalog you want.
If that doesn't work, restore a recent backup of your catalog file.

Thanks very much.
I went to File->Open Catalogue, then located the most recent version.
That worked.
The text size on the panels is now considerably smaller than previously, but that's very minor.
Again thanks.

Opening a different catalog shouldn't affect the font size, but you can change it by going to Edit > Preferences > Interface.

I have tried that but it has no effect. The miniscule size print remains.
I contacted Adobe Tech and obtained this rather strange reply :
Lightroom 5.7 is no longer available and supported with 64 Bit system.
So, we provide you the Lightroom 6 Perpetual License upgrade and you are eligible for the discount.

This is very suspicious. Adobe stopped selling LR 6 many years ago, (LR is now subscription only) and this looks like a scam.
Do not accept this offer. If you install the "upgrade", it might contain viruses and malware.
Who exactly did you contact? Adobe support is only available by chat.

Does that look suspicious to you ?
The message I mentioned in my earlier post arose as follows : I explained in an email to "AdobeTech" that the font size had become minscule, requested assistance, was asked to provide name of operating system and the serial number of my 5.7.1, and did....

Yes it looks extremely suspicious, to the point where I would say with 100% certainty that this is a SCAM.
Adobe.Tech@outlook.com
is not an e-mail address that an official Adobe staff person would use, official Adobe staff would use an email address at adobe.com, not outlook.com
NOTE TO MODERATORS and @Rikk Flohr: Photography — please look into this scam, the email from Alan_Danskin to Michael_5456 implies that whoever this Alan_Danskin is has access to the Adobe Community web site and can find out who new members are.

does the fact of having communicated to the presumed scammer my 24 digit 5.7.1 serial number create any risk ?
eg would it enable access to my LR catalogue or more generally to my computer ? (I would think not).

Risk to Adobe: I guess so, the scammer can sell this serial number and Lr 5 to people, and since Lr 5 did not check to see if there were more than 2 activations of Lr 5 with this serial number, there could be an infinite number of people using this serial number with Lr 5.
Risk to @michael_5456 : I can't think of any way this would put your Lr 5 at risk, but if I do think of something later, I will let you know.

Do not engage. I've forwarded this to the Forum Team to review. I agree with @dj_paige that this is very suspicious.
