Lightroom 5 adjustments not showing in Photoshop CC

Until a few days ago, when I choose "Edit in Lightroom" my RAW files (NEF) would show up in Photoshop with the Lightroom adjustments (without a warning dialog), but somehow this changed. When I open an image in Photoshop from Lightroom it does not show all adjustments. Also when I open the image as a smart object the Lightroom adjustments are ignored. As far as I know I didn't change any settings myself. I have the most recent versions of Lightroom 5 (5.3) and Photoshop CC (14.2). I've read some older solution for this problem by resetting the warning dialogs, but that didn't help. Anybody else experiencing this problem?

With the above in mind, if the dev settings a re saved to the file in DNG or xmp, can they be read by opening direct into PS via ACR from the disk rather than from Lightroom?

The dev settings will not, the original file does open in ACR without the dev settings.

I saved the metadat to XMP and then tried to open the NEF directly from finder in Photoshop. I recieved this message: "Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file." When I removed the XMP file the file that could not be opened by PS now opened just fine. I also tried another NEF file from the same folder and it opened OK in Photoshop.

Where can I see the exact verions I have of CameraRAW? I only see 8.3, but my CC updater says all software is up to date.

From the Photoshop menu bar go to Help> About Plug in> Camera Raw a dialog box should pop up and display the version that is installed.

Hi Geoff and all pf you. Here my idea about the problem that me too  I am experiencing . Now, this is what I think, after a litlle recap:

-If I crop an image, this will "simply" not be open in PS  at all via CMD +e .

-If I use a graduated filter in LR , the exported image in PS is almost all black.

-If I use some brush, the image opend in PS  wont show the edits made in LR

-If I export the image via "export button" to create a Tiff or PSD file and open this file  with PSCC, then (SO FAR )  it opens in PS in a correct way i.e with all edits had been made in LR 5 or 4

I run a

maverik 10.9.1

LR5 5.3

LR 4.4

PS CC 14.2 x64

Cam Raw 8.3.0.141

The interesting thing came to my attention when I tried to replicate my (our) problems on 2 friends machines . They had no problems at all

1 friend has a

Mac 10.8 lion

LR 5.0

PS CC 14.2 x64

Cam raw 8.3.0.141

2nd lucky friend has

Mac 10.8 Lion

LR 5.3

PS CS 6

Cam raw 7.7

my idea? I hope to be completely wrong but this sounds to me  like a MAC Maverik problem. If this is the case we can kiss our back a nice goodbye because none ( apple -adobe) will find a solution. I hope that some Win user or Mac lion installed machine comes up saying they have problems too. I ll be sorry for them , but this could be the worst ever scenario.

PS Just noticed Simon G E Garret up the thread here has NO problem and he s running a window machine.....

I just created a new catalog, imported some of my NEF's and made some adjustments. Tried to open in Photoshop, no luck. Same behaviour as the old catalog.

Hi there,

I have the same problem, using a Mac with Mavericks, Lightroom 5.3 and Photoshop CC. I found out that it seems to have something to do with the Nik software plugin. When I unistall Nik, erveything works fine. When I hav Nik installed, Photoshop won't open my photos anymore, when I choose cmd-E in Lightroom.

Now I have a temporary solution, which works kind of OK for the time being: I removed the directory "Selective Tool" from the Nik Collection directory in Programs.

In this way I can still use Nik, I only have to make a new layer myself, and I can't use the buttons from te Nik window in Photoshop.

Not totally what I would want, but it works for the moment.

I hope that it gets fixed soon.

Ah, now we are getting somewhere! I also have Nik installed. I really don't want to uninstall it, but can't use the workaround as I can't find the "Selective Tool" in the Nik Collection folder.

Should we be alerting Nik/Google?

The folder is located in Programs/Photoshop CC/Plugins/Google.

Excuse me for the misunderstanding.

I also have the Nik filters installed. When I remove the "Selective Tool" folder the NEF image opens from Lightroom into Photoshop, but adjustments like cropping are not applied in PS.

EDIT: Restarted PS and now it seems to work. Great!!!

I removed (relocated) the folder too and can confirm that things work as expected again now. Using Canon RAW files with latest versions of OSX, LR and PS CC.

Going to try and find a Nik support channel now.

I emailed Nik/Google support with a short description of the problems and a link to this thread. Let's hope they do something with it...

By the way, I also noticed that a new version (1.110) was released on Jan 22nd. As I was still using 1.009 before, I upgraded with the hope that this would be fixed. Unfortunately, they were not. I know it was a long shot since most of you would probably already be at the latest version of Nik, but hey, I could try!?

I also noticed that Nik release a new version, but as you already found out it didn't solve this problem. Let's hope that either Nik or Adobe fixes this issue....

TON!!!!! that s solved the problem. I have the Nik suite too and by eliminating that folder solved everything. Dunno how to thank you for your suggestion! thank you soooo much.

Now, first thing is to alert Google ( chances close to zero they ll do somethig ) that Mac mavericks users encounters a problem generated by that folder.

Thank you Ton....

Hello,

I am on a Mac with 10.9, CC, LR 5.3 and the NIK suite. After talking and corresponding with NIK, I unintalled their entire package, which, of course, includes the Selective Tool. After the complete uninstall, the problem remained. (Before that I uninstalled the Selective Tool alone with no change as well.) Although NIK might still be involved, removing it doesn't resolve anything.

Thanks for your further help,
