Lightroom & NextGen Gallery: Lightroom Creates the Gallery Upon Publish But Cannot Obtain Image Data

Dear Community,

We have NextGen Gallery installed on our website and we're using LRC to publish galleries to it. We've encountered an odd problem and have searched for hours for answers and cannot seem to find any.

Any troubleshooting insight would be appreciated.

Imag files are located locally within Lightroom and we've confirmed that the FTP connection is working. The Imagely plugin is installed and configured within Lightroom. There do not appear to be any errors, per logs, on the web side.

We have the scenario where some galleries publish perfectly. Meaning that the Gallery is created anew within NextGen on the website and the photos are imported without an issue.

And then, we have instances where every selected image is rejected upon publishing with the following error message:

Error for Image "_filenamehere-dng.dng". "Could not obtain data for image (_filenamehere-dng.dng)".

When you "Manage Galleries" within WordPress, the newly created Gallery name is there, but no images are imported.

This isn't happening all the time. Some galleries import just fine. Others turn out as described above.

And we cannot find any information for this specific error message. Has anyone else encountered this? And if so, is there any resolution? Anything we can try?

For more context, image files exist on an external storage hard drive and are being imported into Lightroom before we attempt to publish. We're working on a 27" 2020 iMAC with 72GB ram and plenty of HD space.

Thanks in advance for any troubleshooting tips!

Imag files are located locally within Lightroom

If you are referring to the actual original photos you imported into LrC, or any exports, then, no they are not located in LrC. They are located wherever you imported them or exported them to.

So what hard drive(s), and what folder(s) are your photos on?

Error for Image "_filenamehere-dng.dng". "Could not obtain data for image (_filenamehere-dng.dng)".

For any one particular photo that LrC cannot obtain data for, where are they located?

Now a question that might or most not nail the issue, in LrC, are any photos or folders shown as missing?

The Publish process in LrC involves an Export. LrC needs the original photo (or exported photo) to accomplish that, if a photo is missing, then the process goes south.

Dear GoldingD,

Thanks so much for the reply. We'll investigate those possibilities. Gut instinct, knowing LrC, says it has something to do with missing/misplaced/renamed folders. It's happened before. That alone is really frustrating. We'll come back with more info if we have it!  Appreciate the help.

...assuming, of course,  you are using the Imagely LR module...

Have you contacted Imagely?  I ran into that error today.  I just sent a support request into them.  I would recommend you do the same if you haven't already.   Could help get the issue more attention.

Good luck!

I should listen to myseld sometimes and start with the easiest possible reasons first....

Turns out the person was exporting DNG files and trying to publish those to Imagely. Doesn't work. The web has no idea what to do with DNG files.
They export their DNG files first to JPGS, then published those to imagely, and voila!

Thanks for all the feedback. Glad this community exists!

Strange! I have the same problem over here and it only occurs since a week. Before that there was no problem.
I have always exported the NEF-files directly to Imagely and never exported first them to JPGs.
See my settings in the screenshot.
So how can I solve this problem?
Thanks in advance for your help!
