Lightroom automatically selects 2 or more images

I just did the most recent Lightroom Classic update. When I'm in the Library or Develope mode and want to scroll through images, Lightroom automatically selects 2 or more images. I deselect and try to go through each image, but it selects random images and won't let me be specifi on one image. I'm in loupe and grid view modes.

Try resetting LR's preferences:

LR sometimes soils its preferences file, and resetting it can fix all sorts of wonky behavior. That article explains how to restore the old preferences if resetting doesn't help.
