Lightroom back up funktioniert nicht

Wenn ich in Lightroom ein back up erstelle, wird der Ordner xxx.lrcat-data mit 0 kB erstellt.

Das Restore des back ups führt zur Fehlermeldung: xxx.lrcat-data konnte nicht gefunden werden.

Screenshot s. Anlage.

Alte back ups kann ich ebenfalls nicht mehr öffnen.

Hi CMass,

thanks for your response. my catalog as well as the initial back ups are stored on an internal hard drive (D: SSD). back ups are transferred to an internal harddrive R: from time to time.

My catalog comprises about 100k files.

Try to reset the LR preferences to the default settings.

 

If this doen'st help we need more informations about your system. Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

all presets set to default

Made a new back up after default settings. Restore led an aatempted new start followed ba  failute. Did send crash report to adobe.

Older back up files showedd the same immidiate failure a above.

Do you run Lightroom as an Adminstrator or an user with Admin rightd?

Does Lightroom has full access rights to the catalog folder (incl. all sub folders) and the appropriate folder for the backups?

Please post a screenshot in which we can see the structure of  your catalog folder.

 

As I see in the system informations you graphic device driver isn't actual. Goto NVidia's site and download the recent driver version for your card. Make sure that you install the Studio version and not the Game Ready version of the NVidia driver.

thank you so much for your supprt so far.

I did download the recent studio driver and yes: my account has admin rights. I am not aware that I might run Lightroom under non admin rights (how could I verify?).

Pls. find the scrrenshot of the folder attached. How can I verify that LR has all rights needed for the folder??

If Lightroom runs under your account and this account has Admin rights LR is running also with Admin rights.

 

To check the access rights open the Explorer, do an right click to the appropriate folder, then click Properties and then click the Security tab.

Especially  check the access rights of the lrcat-data folder.

 

Otherwise, I have no idea at the moment where the problem could be. How long does the problem exists? Did it work before? If yes, what has been changed on your system before the error occur?

the folders comprise full rights for the admin. I changed the rights for the actual dektop user to full rights as well.

I still see the same error message as posted initially. The message says that the lrcat file does not contain the AI data - as I unterstand. Is it possible that LR does not write the appropiate data into the lrcat-data folder when saving the back up file for any reason?

 

Honestly I did save the back up files regularly but never verified that they do work. So, I am not able to correlate the issue to any event.

This you can check very easily. Open one of the .zip-file that created during the backup process and check if there's a lrcat-data folder is in it and check the size.

What else you can try is to resett the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com) 

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

I did resett the preferences as indicated and did run a back up.

Again - it was failing. The failure report as indicated initially did not appear. But there was a crash and I sent the crash report to Adobe and noted my email adress: <Mod: mail address removed>

I am sending the report t you as well as attachment.

 

The file looks different to yours. Pls. see the 2nd attachment

I'm a little bit confused. The information about the graphical device differs between the System Info and the crash report. As I see in the crash report your installed driver version is from January 2024. Also a AMD Radeon is listed (as offline).

 

The following steps you should do and try after every step if it works.

1. Check your system if it's up-to-date. Make sure that ALL recent patches and updates for the operating system and the application, all recent versions for the chipset and device driver installed.

 

2. Create a new Lightroom catalog, import several images and check ifd the backup works.

 

3. A complete and CLEAN reinstallation of Lightroom by following the steps below.

 

If you're unable to install the cc desktop app at this stage, use an administrator account (solution 4 here: Adobe Creative Cloud, needed to resolve this problem, is missing or damaged

 

If this all doesn't help please contact the Adobe support. I don't have no more idea what's the problem could be.

I did install the August driver for my rtx 3060 graphics.

AMD Radeon is deactivated. I think this is the onboard graphics of my motherboard ProArtX670E-Creator WIFI.

My operating system is up to date (Windows 11)

I am currently checking my drivers.

Later I will go for the complete an clean reinstallation of Lightroom as describe. I will let you know wether this procedure worked.
