I can no longer open Lightroom CC on my PC. It has worked fine for many years, but for about maybe two years I have not used it much at all, so it has been more or less dormant. I've used Lightroom on my phone instead.
Three-four weeks ago I tried to open it again, but something seems to be wrong. I cannot find an answer on what it can be and how to solve the problem. I've tried to follow instructions I have found on Adobe's site (delete certain files, re-install LRCC, try an older version...) but nothing of that works.
Once, a week ago, I could open LRCC when I opened it after I right-clicked on a photo and chose "Open with LRCC, but before that and now also after that time, it does not work. I've also tried to right-click on that photo and on other photos to try to open it. Here is what happens:
When I attempt to open LRCC I get a message saying "Lightroom Catalogue" is damaged and it seems to try a repair, but it always abruptly ends and I get "Assertion failed" and then there is nothing more.
I can open Premiere Pro, Lightroom and Photoshop (which lags alot on my PC and now yesterday, it seemes as if it cannot be opened either. I tried today too but nothing happens).
What is it that prevents LRCC and now also PS from opening?

CORRECTION:
Not LRCC. It is Lightroom Classic, that does not work.

You cannot open a damaged catalog. Try restoring a recent backup of your catalog file and open that; or try opening LrC with a blank new catalog (hold down the Ctrl key when starting LrC).

Thank you for suggesting that. However, none of it works...

It won't open a brand new catalog? What is the error message when you try that?

I get no message. Nothing happens at all. Lightroom Classic won't open.

I found this post today and it describes a problem that I have now, both with LrC and PS:
I've tried the help offered there, but it does not work for me.

This is a very long thread, which part of it describes your problem, and which help did you try?
Here's an example of someone who had the same problem, which was solved by re-installing the operating system, as nothing else seemed to work. (Of course, this example was on a Mac and may or may not apply to you)

It is the same problem as is described in the opening post:
"I have run LRC on my Windows 10 PC for ages without a problem. Suddenly it refuses to open. If I click on the App, the wheel spins breifly, disappears and LRC doesn't open. I have tried unistalling and reinstalling the LRC App but LRC still will not open. The App version is up to date (V 13.3)"
My version is today 13.0 after I tried the recommendation of installing an earlier version.

Is there a way to edit previous posts? I wanted to say that PS seems to be working today. I could open it now. Yesterday and the day before, it did not. It was as described in the post below "...the wheel spins breifly, disappears and... doesn't open."
