Is this a hardware issue?

Are you using a card reader?

If so, do you have another one to try?

Or maybe, if external, a different cable.

Or try the hard way, via card in camera, camera to computer via USB.

Two different cards imported through Apple SD Card reader, and a hard drive import.

Could be bad memory chips in the computer, bad card reader or bad hard drive. Please run diagnostics on these hardware. Please try importing using different hardware.

I'm totally in agreement with @dj_paige here. These are usually a hardware issue. Lightroom happens to show this quicker than other software which use the files internal preview.

Do you have a different USB cable to try?

Do you have a different SD card reader to try?

In a pinch, should you not have an alternative SD card reader, try importing with SD card in camera, camera connected to computer via USB.
