My Spot removal tool is showing no difference in functionality between Clone and Heal - both are now selecting a dipoint to copy from. In the past the Heal tool has worked great for dust spot removal by using the area surrounding the selected point to fix these. Now it wants to clone from a different area. Is there a setting that needs to be changed? Install on current MACOS - Intel I-7 4.2ghz with 48GB ram and Radeon 8GB graphis card

That's how healing has always worked. The only difference between heal and clone is that heal tries to blend instead of clone, but both require a source point. Maybe you're thinking of Spot Heal in Ps?

Yes, I believe you are confusing this tool with the Spot Healing brush in Photoshop.
