Lightroom Classic 2023 does not open photoshop from edit-in command

In lightroom classic, I'm accustomed to using the "edit in" command to create a .psd file and open photoshop. That stopped happening. It creates a .psd file and then nothing else happens.

Try reinstalling Photoshop and also check that the version of Camera Raw is up to date. It sounds like Lightroom tries to open the image in an older version of Photoshop, that isn't installed anymore. Because this is an older version, Lightroom creates the PSD (when both versions match, the PSD is actually created 'under the hood' by Camera Raw), but then sending it to Photoshop fails because the expected Photoshop version isn't there.
