Lightroom Classic 9.3 Presets Not Applying

After I upgraded to 9.3, my presets are still visible and when I click on them, the thumbnail and the image changes based on the preset but when I release the mouse button, the image goes back to the original setting.  I saw a post earlier that suggested updating the security and privacy settings to full disk acess for Lightroom classic but that didnt work.  I tried changing the preferences to save with catalog unchecked and checked but no luck either.  This only happened after the last update and it was working fine before.

Things I have tried:

  • Giving all the adobe products full disk access
  • Reinstalling the preset

I do not suspect the following is the issue. But check anyhow.

As it looks like you are accessing the PHOTOS folder (now a sys folder or a user folder???)

Go back into the MACOS System Preferences, bring back up Security and Privacy. Select the Privacy tab again, This time scroll down to Photos, Lightroom Classic should be included if that folder is used.

Oh, and P.S. just in case something changed, scroll down to Files and Folders, all checked?

So, perhaps a preferences file reset, note thaat a reinstall may ir may not accomplish that depending on uninstall completness.

my SOP follows

________________________

Sounds like a canadate for resetting the preference file. Resetting the preference file is Adobe speak for deleating the preference file and then letting Lightroom Classic to recreate it.

The preference file can get corrupted, resulting in odd behavior. Some people have a knee jerk reaction in thinking they need to uninstall then reinstall Lightroom Classic, maybe that could be called for, but it would be better to first reset the preference file.

Be aware that resetting the preference file will result in Lightroom Classic creating a new catalog instead if opening your previously opened catalog (normally) so make sure you know where your catalog is.

Be aware the resetting the preference file will revert some settings in Preferences to defaults. So be aware of what you have changed, so that you can put those back the way you want them.

Deleting the preference file worked.  it was best to search for the ~/library folder because the file seems to have moved vs the instructions.  but this worked

On Mac, open Finder and navigate to the [ username ] LibraryPreferences folder, drag the com.adobe.Lightroom[VERSION#].plist  to the Trash. If you don’t see the Lightroom plist file then you may be looking in the wrong folder (don’t go to Library/Preferences, go to [ username ] LibraryPreferences).

Wierd.  when I opend LR again. the presets didnt work again...
