Lightroom Classic Crashing when importing from SD card

New Here ,
Feb 02, 2018 Feb 02, 2018

I'm running Lightroom Version CC 2015.7, the most current version I can update to,  Starting a few weeks ago, every time I try to import from the SD card slot on my iMac, Lightroom immediately crashes.  This does not occur when I import from my XQD card when it is inserted into an adapter which is plugged into a USB slot.  Any suggestions?

Press ALT in the PREFERENCES > GENERAL tab. A hidden button appears(*Adobe!!! Bad user interface design!!!)

Reset preferences there...

I have a similar problem.  When I open the import dialogue, it is very slow and often crashes.  So it might take 30 - 60 seconds for the import dialog to populate.

It takes a long time to respond when I hit the import button, if - indeed - it responds at all.

Resetting the preferences doesn't help.

This problem seems to have developed in the last month so.

This is a major problem

One possible cause is that your hardware (card reader/card/USB Cable) has gone bad. Try different hardware.

Thanks for this.

Mine is actually built in, but I don't think it's this.  I can access the card through windows without any difficulty and - when the import actually starts - it's quite fast,
