Aloha everyone,
I recently switched macbooks and would like to start editing off of an external hardrive versuse my internal stoarge. I use to import (Copy) photos from SD card to internal stoarge through lightroom, label, edit, export, submit final photos to client.
I've always kept two External Hard Drives as Master Backups, I'd like to take one of these and and use with Lightroom Classic editing which would give me easy acess to past projects (photos) for easy editing.
My question is how do I get lightroom to reconize an external hardrive that already has photos on it? What would be the specific process of "importing" or having Lightroom Classic reconize this drive and photos within?
Thanks!

Trying to bump (on the same day!) and show impatience doesn't help, rather the opposite!

Hi,
I do have an issue making LrC recognize a new external SSD. I've already used many external drives with no problem but since they're reaching full capacity I got a new one, that doesn't appear in "Dossiers" (files: I use French language like the other SSD but only appears "volumes" (see attached screenshot)

Sorry. I thought it fitted with the tread.

There is NO IMPORTING. This is so important I am going to say it three more times. NO IMPORTING. NO IMPORTING. NO IMPORTING.
I hope that is clear.
What you need to do is UPDATE FOLDER LOCATION and point LrC to the external hard drive. See "Part 2 — Updating Folder Location" of this document. In particular, see Figure 8.
