Make sure you have granted “full disk access “ to LrC in your macOS settings. See the link attached for info.

I had exactly the same thing, Ive only had Lightroom a few weeks, so still learning, are your photos all in folders ? If so you have to select view subfolders, think it's in the Plus button where you add folders. Let me know if that works.I have been posting my adventures with Lightroom classic on Photoshopguru forum, may help explain stuff, still going through thousands of images and face tagging them

Another tip, while working with images in Lightroom or Photoshop best to avoid USB connected pens or hard drives, my metadata wouldn't write due to a USB socket or connection issue. And Lightroom doesn't verify that MD is written to a file

Please show us a screen capture of your ENTIRE Import dialogbox. Please use the "Insert Photos" icon to include your screen capture in your reply. Do not attach files.

It sounds like the OP has all the photos in folders, so just needs to select view / open subfolders, think it's on the Plus button to add folders, happened to me also

Yes, certainly that's a possibility, but I think there are other possibilities and it would help to see the screen capture of the Import dialog box.

Make sure the Destination Panel (I think the name is "Bestemming" in Dutch) on the right is present and expanded. It doesn't show in your screen capture. Right-click (I think that's ctrl-click on a Mac) on Bestandsafhandeling and select Destination from the drop-down menu.
